History

Since 1996 Genest Distribution has provided Purdy Professional Painting Tools to Decor Shops and Builder's Providers in all 32 counties of Ireland. Genest Distribution is the Agent in the Republic of Ireland for Purdy International Corporation. In 1996 very few decorators in Ireland or the UK used synthetic filament brushes and very few used Purdy brushes. Since then the decorating culture has changed dramatically. Now a large percentage of decorators use synthetic brushes in both water and oil based paints. Purdy Professional Paint Brushes are now widely recognized as the best in the decor market. In Ireland Genest Distribution is widely recognized as the Purdy provider to Decor businesses.

Meet the Owner

Rob Genest first came to Ireland from California in 1991 to visit the Irish woman he met in Tbilisi, Georgia, U.S.S.R. in 1989. That went very well :) and they got married in Ireland in 1993. Having been a house painter in the past he noticed immediately that decorators in Ireland were using Chinese hog bristle brushes in water based paints. Immediately recognizing the potential advantage for those decorators if they were to use a good quality synthetic brush and seeing the opportunity of selling Purdy Professional Brushes to their local decor shops he set out to become the Agent for Purdy in Ireland. In 1995 he moved to Ireland and in 1996 Genest Distribution began doing business. Both the marriage and the business are still going strong.
